Creative Cluster 2019: Longford Animations of Local Folklore Stories
2022
A Creative Cluster project with St. Mary's NS Edgeworthstown involved tours of the county, research into local history and a piece completed with the help of local artist Mary Smyth. The art piece is a 3D large-scale map of Longford with clay models to indicate places of historical significance around the county.
In St Teresas NS Killoe, 6th Class focused on the link between their native parish of Killoe and the Titanic disaster.  The children completed different visits, projects, drawings, poems and fact files on the Titanic. Local artist Mary Smyth helped the children design and construct a large, scale Titanic boat where children worked in groups constructing, painting and clay making.

The Household Hero Challenge 2020
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Household Hero Scrapbooking Project was a 5-week virtual challenge set up for the children of Longford to explore their experiences of being at home in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic 2020.
This project invites children to see themselves as the Heroes of their own stories, and to illustrate the adventures they have and the foes they face in their own homes.
The project was ran by illustrator and animator Mary Smyth and playwright Hannah Carleton supported by Creative Ireland and the Longford Library.
It was run via a facebook page: "Household Hero: Scrapbook Challenge 2020" / @Householdherolongford and each week uploaded videos from Hannah and Mary helped the children with the week's challenge.
